This is based on a photo of what I presume is a sunset (rather than a sunrise), and my painting doesn’t do the scene justice at this point. I am still trying to figure how to get images to look as good on PC as they do on an iPad. So some images here may not look great, but hopefully soon I will get the hang of it!
This one I did from scratch, and I really like the sense of movement, and the textures of the image. It leans a little toward abstraction/impressionism. And that’s part of what I am aiming for.
This is another rendering of a Creative Commons photo. You should realize by now that I love sunsets. But I don’t think I spent enough time on this one. I think some details could be tweaked here and there, and the painting made more expressive.
This is from a long time ago, maybe six years ago. I didn’t have my iPad Air then, just some PC programs and my graphics tablet. As usual, I was just winging it, trying to come up with something. The program I used was MyPaint, a simple yet excellent digital painting program. I encourage you to try it out. You may become addicted!
There is a trend I am trying to break, in my painting adventures. I tend to make my paintings mostly full of bright, saturated color, and it tends to end up looking garish. This is the case with this one, too. Probably saving the most intense colors, and the center of interest until the end of the painting would help. It is taking a long time, but I am slowly learning.
